Andres Martinez Blackberry

Andres Martinez Blackberry

Hey Everyone,

This week’s Secret Stash is an exciting release from Modcup and Colombian producer Andres Martinez! This is a Blackberry Co-ferment Caturra that is bursting with berries, vanilla, blackberries (of course), and is a great example of well processed advanced fermentation coffees. I was able to meet Andres at World of Coffee San Diego and it was amazing to hear about his excitement towards producing coffee and how he is pushing his processing and coffees forward at El Sendero.Ā Ā

Now onto the coffee! When brewing this coffee your entire room will smell of intense fruits! When hot, this is a super fragrant coffee with blackberry jam, yogurt, and a super sweet creamy body. As the cup cools, you get a round and intense blackberry acidity followed by a creamy yogurty body. I find the blackberry acidity to be very deep and layered with a pleasant boost from the co-fermentation. When cooled, there is really amazing structure and balance between the intense acidity and the creamy body. I suggest you pay attention to how the coffee cools here.

For best results, I recommend you rest this coffee for at least 3+ weeks and explore how the coffee behaves 6+ weeks!Ā
